Before we explain to you which categories of cookies and other technologies (all together we call these "Cookies") we use, we want to point out that you can generally reject browser Cookies via the settings of your browser. For information on how to disable cookies depending on the browser you use, see Section 3 below.
We use session Cookies that expire at the end of a browser session (from when a user opens the browser window to when they exit the browser) and persistent Cookies which remain on your hard drive until you erase them or they expire. How long a persistent Cookie remains on your browser depends on how long the visited website has programmed the Cookie to last. Some cookies only last for a few minutes, or a couple of hours, whereas some cookies may last for a year.
1. Website Optimization Cookies
These Cookies are required for the website to provide full functionality and for you to fully utilize our services. They include, for example, Cookies that enable you to login, use a wish list or store products in a shopping cart. Some of these Cookies are strictly necessary, and without them, the website could not function.
We also use performance cookies to provide you with some of the functionalities on our site. They may also enable us to recognize you when you return to our site and store information about your preferences, so they allow us to customize our site according to your individual preferences (such as the language chosen by you).
Furthermore we use analytics cookies to collect information about the services you use and how you use them (e.g. articles you clicked on in our emails or on our website). We use this information to learn about shopping preferences to tailor our offers and websites, to resolve problems with websites, products and services, to analyze trends, and statistics and to present our content in the most appealing and user-friendly way for you.
2. Advertising Cookies
We conduct interest-based advertising, also referred to as targeted advertising or behavioral advertising. Retargeting means that the ads that you are being served are personalized based on your behavior when browsing online. Using retargeting cookies also allows us to provide you with offers and general information about other goods, services and events which we offer that are similar to those that you have already purchased or enquired about. We cooperate with third party service providers placing ads (banners or links) for us on other websites. These advertising service providers may collect information about your visits to our website and your interaction with our products and services, as well as your visits to other websites. Such information does not include your name, address, email address, but may contain browser-related information, such as information about searches that you have made.
3. How to opt-out of cookies
You can use WebChoices which is a browser-based tool for opting out of interest-based advertising. AdChoices provides additional solutions and explanations to block and manage cookies, as well as plug-ins to retain opt-out cookie preferences, even if you delete your cookies.
You can manage your cookie preferences through your browser using the instructions provided below by clicking on the browser that you are using. However, by blocking necessary and functional cookies, parts of the site may not be available.
Please note that if you maintain a user account with third party service providers (e.g. Facebook) they may be able to identify you.
